Bike hire in Volvic and the surrounding area

Are you looking to hire a bike in Volvic for a weekend, a week’s holiday or a business trip? Here’s what you need to know before booking.

Individuals, professionals and works councils: two ways to hire

Whether for a holiday, a last-minute weekend away or an outing with friends, short-term bike hire can be booked by the day or by the week. If you cycle all year round, long-term bike hire spreads the cost over several months and saves you the hassle of maintenance.

For professionals, our corporate offering is aimed at teams, works councils and seminars: we provide a fleet of bikes, with models tailored to participants’ needs, and can arrange supervision depending on the event format. Just let us know the number of participants and the duration, and we’ll take care of the rest. To find out more about our team and how we work, do take a look at our ‘About Us’ page.

A bike hire fleet in Volvic to suit every type of ride

Volvic is a village built on a 12,000-year-old lava flow: steep streets, country lanes and, right next door, the Limagne plain. Two distinct atmospheres, then, and two types of ride. Hence a deliberately wide-ranging fleet.

E-hybrids, road bikes and children’s bikes for leisure rides

The hybrid bike remains the go-to choice for a Sunday ride, a family outing on signposted loops or a Volvic–Mozac journey along back roads. An upright riding position, all-terrain tyres and a luggage rack: everything you need to cover 20 to 30 km without a second thought. The cargo bike is ideal for shopping or carrying equipment. For children, we have several sizes, plus trailers and child seats. Please provide the child’s age and height when booking: we’ll prepare the right bike.

Electric mountain bike hire for the Auvergne hills

The climb up to the Puy de Dôme takes on a whole new dimension with electric assistance. Our e-MTBs offer a comfortable range depending on the mode and route: enough to tackle the round trip to the Gour de Tazenat without ending up on your knees.

How does bike hire work in Volvic?

Collecting your bike from the hire point at your booked time slot

It’s simple: you book, choose a time slot, and collect your bike from the hire point. When you arrive, we’ll check the tyre pressure, adjust the saddle and handlebars to suit you, and fit a helmet, lock or pannier if you need one. Allow ten minutes.

Five simple steps, no grey areas.

  1. Online booking: bike, hire duration, collection slot.
  2. Delivery: at the agreed location, during your slot. We’ll sort everything out together.
  3. Ride: you cycle for the duration of your booking.
  4. Return: the bike is returned to the collection point at the end of the hire period.

Hire a bike in Volvic, Riom or Clermont-Ferrand

Volvic and Riom share the same cycling route, but the collection points differ: book your bike hire in Riom if you’re setting off from the sub-prefecture. For the metropolitan area and its 21 municipalities, you should look into bike hire in Clermont-Ferrand.

Riom, Mozac and Marsat on the Limagne side

Riom is about ten kilometres away via the D986 – there’s no continuous cycle path along this stretch, so it’s best to travel during off-peak hours and use the small side roads. Mozac is worth a detour for its abbey, and Marsat for its basilica. The Limagne plain, meanwhile, is flat and easy to cycle on: ideal for a first ride, for road cycling or for trying out an e-bike.

Enval, the gorges and the Gour de Tazenat

Enval, right next to Volvic, provides access to the gorges and the Ambène stream. Further west, the Gour de Tazenat is a crater lake: the circular walk around it is done on foot (2.6 to 4 km, 1 to 1½ hours), so you’ll need to leave your bike in the car park near the D19, at Charbonnières-les-Vieilles. A brilliant idea for an e-MTB ride to cool off on sunny days after a workout!

Châtel-Guyon, Saint-Ours and the lakes

Châtel-Guyon, a spa town and gateway to the Puy de Dôme, serves as the starting point for the signposted loops. As for water, you can have a picnic by the lakes in the Sans-Souci and Les Prades valleys; for swimming, the nearest lake is the Gour de Tazenat, about ten kilometres away. Saint-Ours and its Roches complete the loop on the volcano side.

We hired bikes for a family ride and had a brilliant time. I’m not very confident on a bike, but Antoine gave me some great advice and the e-bikes were very easy to get the hang of. A brilliant experience that I’d recommend without hesitation!
